Advent Reflections: Day 12

I am the LORD, your God,
who grasp your right hand;
It is I who say to you, “Fear not,
I will help you.”

Isaiah 41:13

We’ve reached a sort of halfway point in this season of waiting. For many of us the realization is striking home that there are only 12 shopping days, 12 baking days, 12 planning days away…for some of us we wonder where the time went and we worry about what lies ahead.

It is easy to give up now, to shift our focus away from the wonder of this season and just keep our eyes fixed squarely on “getting through” it all. This verse comes to us at just the right moment because that impulse to bail, to quit, to keep our head down and “get through it” is rooted in fear.

As we move through the positions we have practiced over the last 11 days focus on driving out the fear. Remember as you move and as you breathe that God takes your right hand, that He says to you-

“Fear not, I will help you.”

Take these positions slow, be intentional and choose a verse or a word or an image on which to focus as you move through them. Remember not to lock at the joints. Remember to breathe. Remember to be gentle with yourself.
